Jeff Berding

President and Co-CEO | FC Cincinnati
President | FCC Enterprise

Jeff Berding is President of FCC Enterprise, and President and Co-CEO of FC Cincinnati, the professional soccer team he co-founded in the summer of 2015. With its arrival in Major League Soccer (MLS) for the 2019 season – less than four years after its founding – FC Cincinnati has become the benchmark for organic growth and community-driven sports interest.

Now heading into its sixth year in MLS, as 2023 Supporters’ Shield winners, the club is continuing to grow its fan base and impact in the Greater Cincinnati region in its world-class, privately funded $250 million TQL Stadium. In addition, in 2022, FC Cincinnati announced the development of a mixed-use district adjacent to TQL Stadium; a destination to welcome and include all, enhancing the vibrancy of the historic West End neighborhood.

Prior to his August 2015 founding of FC Cincinnati, Berding served for more than 19 years as an executive with the Cincinnati Bengals where he led sales and public affairs efforts for the city’s NFL franchise.

The hugely successful launch of FC Cincinnati was consistent with Berding’s track record of working to make his hometown a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Berding has a long history of leadership in his community, including roles as President of the FCC Foundation; Chairman of Visit Cincy; Co-Chair of the Cincinnati Regional Business Committee; to serving on the Board of Trustees for the Cincinnati Art Museum and St. Xavier High School; to volunteering with the Chamber of Commerce for 20+ years; and dedicated service to Cincinnati City Council.

He has been the recipient of numerous civic awards, including a spot among the top 100 leaders in history of the local United Way; the 2006 “40 Under 40” from the Cincinnati Business Courier; featured at the 2018 Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA’s Annual Gala; and awarded the 2019 EY Entrepreneur of the Year.

Berding is a fifth-generation Cincinnatian, born and raised in Westwood where he attended St. Xavier High School. He graduated cum laude from Miami University and earned his master’s in business administration with honors from Xavier in 1999. Berding has three children, Allie, Jack and Grace. With his wife Lindsay, the family resides in the city’s Mt. Lookout neighborhood.

Lindsey Braun

Chief Strategy Officer, FC Cincinnati

Lindsey is the Chief Strategy Officer at FC Cincinnati, driving the leadership team to have a relentless focus on the successful execution of its ambitious strategic plan and being the best team in MLS. In her more than five years with the Club, she has developed a keen understanding for what it means to be a well-run professional sports organization and aspires for nothing but greatness for FC Cincinnati and her teams. At FCC, Lindsey oversees key elements of the administrative function including People & Culture, Business Intelligence, and Technology, and has previously overseen Accounting & Finance. After graduating from Xavier University, and after earning her master’s from the University of Cincinnati, Lindsey became a CPA and worked in public accounting at Grant Thornton. Lindsey loves to give back to her alma mater, Xavier University, giving her time as a mentor to current students, and serving on the Accounting Advisory Board.

Chad Munitz

Chief Development Officer

Chad Munitz joined FC Cincinnati in May 2022 as Chief Development Officer with oversight of the club’s Real Estate growth ambitions including the creation of a large-scale mixed-use district adjacent to TQL Stadium, as well as Lion Ventures – the club’s business development arm – which includes all non-MLS soccer revenue initiatives. Prior to FC Cincinnati, Chad held leadership roles in Real Estate and Economic Development with Towne Properties, the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC), the City of Cincinnati and the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD). He has directed over $800 million in development and led transformative projects like Fountain Square and Washington Park, playing a key role in the revitalization of Cincinnati’s downtown urban core.

Chad graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Information Systems. He is a native of New Philadelphia, Ohio and resides in the City of Cincinnati neighborhood of Northside with his wife and daughter.

Vince Cicero

Senior Vice President for Lion Ventures

Prior to the launch of Lion Ventures, Vince led the Partnerships team for FC Cincinnati (MLS), including the opening of the award-winning TQL Stadium, the finest soccer-specific stadium in the United States. Vince brings a wealth of experience across multiple sports and entertainment properties. His vast sales, marketing, broadcasting, and special events background spans 30 years and includes work with two NBA franchises (Pistons, Bucks), an NFL team (Bengals), an MLS team (FC Cincinnati), a collegiate institution (Marquette University), an international tennis event (Western & Southern Open), a multi-faceted entertainment property (Palace Sports & Entertainment) and a high-profile endurance sport (IRONMAN). He has opened two stadiums (NFL, MLS), an arena (NBA/Collegiate), led a major venue expansion (Tennis) and managed events ranging from NCAA Basketball Tournaments to an International Tennis Event.

Kelley Haggert

SVP, Integrated Marketing & Communications – FC Cincinnati

As SVP, Integrated Marketing & Communications, Kelley manages the teams responsible for the club narrative and look & feel across all internal and external channels. She has built and led marketing and communication functions at some of the world’s most influential organizations, including The Walt Disney Company, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Verizon and JPMorgan Chase. She has deep experience in PR, crisis and reputation management, as well as counseling business, sports, entertainment and nonprofit leaders in building and protecting brands. She has cultivated an impressive national and international relationship base and gift for working across geographies and cultures to tell stories about the power of community and connection. Originally from Toronto, Kelley is a former world-class athlete and spent six years as a member of Canada’s Rhythmic Gymnastics National Team. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Communications from Ryerson University. Kelley has lived and traveled around the world and, as a recent transplant to Cincinnati, she serves on the Board of Trustees of Film Cincinnati. 

Steven Young

Director of Lion Ventures

Steven Young joined FC Cincinnati to help start the business development arm of FCC as Director, Lion Ventures. Prior to Lion Ventures, Steven worked in corporate banking for U.S. Bank and First Financial Bank where he worked primarily on mergers and acquisitions, to a total of over $500 million in transaction volume. Steven also has a passion for the startup ecosystem and actively advises early-stage startups and was a member of the founding team for a real estate tech venture-backed startup, Nector. He is originally from South Carolina where he attended the University of South Carolina. 

Emily Robinson

Project Director
Emily Robinson joins Lion Ventures as the Project Director following three and a half years as the Director of Partnership Activation at FC Cincinnati where she focused on cultivating strong relationships with some of FCC’s most influential business partners. Emily came to FCC via Kraft Sports & Entertainment where she managed the New England Revolution’s partnership roster for over three and half seasons. Prior to working in Major League Soccer, she spent time in the agency world where she worked at Paragon Marketing Group with a focus on experiential marketing for Gatorade. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, she earned her Master’s in Sports Management and Recreation from the University of Arkansas where she was also a Graduate Assistant for the Sports Information Department.

Brandy Del Favero

Director of Real Estate Development
Brandy Del Favero is the Director of Real Estate Development at Lion Ventures, leading all real estate development efforts, including development projects at TQL Stadium, Mercy Health Training Center and the West End Mixed-Use Project. Prior to Lion Ventures, Brandy was Development Director at Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) and started her career working for a Development and Construction Management firm. During Brandy’s tenure at 3CDC she oversaw or worked on projects totaling $730 million, with projects ranging from re-imaging civic spaces, mixed use development in the central business district and critical affordable housing projects. Brandy graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. She was born and raised in a small suburb outside of Dayton, Ohio, but quickly became passionate about Cincinnati early on in her professional career. She is a board member on the UC Real Estate Executive Advisory Council and a member of LPGA Amateurs, which focuses to connect women of all abilities to learn, play and enjoy golf.

Maddie Gerding

Graphic Designer
Maddie Gerding is FC Cincinnati’s Graphic Designer specific to Partnerships. She is passionate about creating engaging visual storytelling, rooted in design strategy. In her role, Maddie uses design to innovate corporate sales and develop new facets of FCC’s brand. She works to deliver elevated design solutions that support business objectives. Maddie is a lifelong Cincinnatian, where she graduated from Saint Ursula Academy and the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP).

Establishing a Sports Tech Lab with Cintrifuse

As Cincinnati’s leading startup hub, Cintrifuse looked to partner with FC Cincinnati to start a sports tech lab. In partnership with Lion Ventures and FC Cincinnati, the objective was to create a sports tech lab that would nurture startups specifically in this niche, supporting their development through crucial business cycles and help them scale to the next level.

The primary challenge was to design a program that effectively combined the dynamic world of sports with the innovative nature of technology startups. Additionally, the program needed to attract high-potential startups and provide them with the resources necessary to scale successfully.

Approach:

Lion Ventures and Cintrifuse developed a comprehensive approach to tackle these challenges.
  1. Program Development: Created a curriculum that included mentorship from industry leaders, access to sports organizations for pilot programs, and strategic business support.
  2. Recruitment and Selection: Implemented a rigorous selection process to identify and recruit promising sports tech startups with the potential for significant impact and growth.
  3. Ongoing Support and Networking: Provided ongoing support to incubated startups, including access to investors, sports industry networks, and potential customers.

Results:

The sports tech lab is successfully launching and will become a critical component of the Cincinnati startup ecosystem. The lab will drive innovation in sports technology as well as solidify Cincinnati and FC Cincinnati’s as hubs for sports innovation.

In partnership with LEAD ONE, a global venture corporation shaping the future of sports and health, FC Cincinnati and Lion Ventures will assist in the creation of a space for startups to accelerate innovation in sports and health technology by pairing LEAD’s industry investment expertise with FC Cincinnati’s continued positioning as an innovator on and off the pitch.

As a venture partner with LEAD ONE, FC Cincinnati will have unprecedented access from LEAD to the most cutting-edge startups and technologies across the organization to address their corporate initiatives and strategies. FC Cincinnati will lend valuable support to LEAD ONE’s portfolio of early-stage organizations with real-life, traction-oriented deliverables to help drive their businesses to the next level.

Securing Naming Rights for Sharonville Convention Center

The Sharonville Convention Center sought to enhance its market presence and generate additional revenue through a naming rights partnership. Recognizing the need for expert guidance, they enlisted Lion Ventures to navigate the complexities of this endeavor.

The primary challenge was to identify a suitable partner whose brand values aligned with those of the Sharonville Convention Center. Additionally, the deal needed to maximize financial gain while maintaining the integrity and reputation of the convention center.

Approach:

Lion Ventures deployed a multi-phased approach:

  1. Market Analysis: Conducted a comprehensive analysis to understand the market dynamics and potential partners’ brand values.
  2. Valuation: Assessed the value of the naming rights based on factors such as visibility, engagement opportunities, and market trends.
  3. Strategic Outreach: Developed and implemented a targeted outreach strategy to engage potential partners.

Results:

The efforts culminated in a go-to-market evaluation of the naming rights for the Sharonville Convention Center. We are currently working directly with corporate partners to finalize this opportunity.

In an ambitious move to transform the neighborhood adjacent to TQL Stadium, Lion Ventures, alongside FC Cincinnati, is spearheading the West End Mixed Use Project. This $400 million development aims to create a vibrant, multifunctional urban space that will serve as a community hub and an economic catalyst for Cincinnati.

Results:

The West End Mixed Use Project success is on track to reshape the urban landscape of Cincinnati. Upon completion, the project is expected to dramatically increase local property values, boost employment, and enhance the overall quality of life in the West End neighborhood. The development has already attracted significant attention from investors and future tenants, underscoring its anticipated success.
